Welcome Guests

Greetings,

I'd like to welcome you to our web site and share just a bit about Real Life with you. It is our greatest desire to become a place where people feel like they are a part of God's family. The kind of family where they are welcomed with open arms, will experience unconditional love, are challenged to grow, and will be equipped to make a difference in the world. I'd like to invite you to consider exploring with us the difference God can really make in a life, a family, a community, and our world.

In His Great Love,
Dale Phipps

Here are some things that we at Real Life Christian Church think that you may find helpful when thinking of visiting us.

How do I get there?

Here is a link for driving directions that may help you.

Where do I park?

There is parking on the front, back and side (street) of the building. Our greeters will be at the front and back doors to meet you.

Where do I go when I get there?

As you come in the door you will proceed to the sanctuary. There are greeters at each door that are there to help make you find your way and feel at home.

Where do my kids go when I get there?

At RLCC the entire family gathers in the sanctuary for worship, prayer, announcements and communion. It is after communion that the children are released to Sunday school. They are returned back to the parents in the sanctuary 5 minutes before the end of service so they can join you for fellowship afterwards.

What does your church believe?

  • We accept the Bible and the Bible alone, as the inspired and infallible word of God. It is our standard for life. We are convinced that the Bible is God's love letter to all humanity and respond to it accordingly!
  • We believe that Jesus is the Son of the only living God. That He alone is able to bridge the gulf that exists between us and God. We are convinced that He is God and became the ultimate expression of His love for each of us when He took human form, lived among us, died in our place, and conquered the power of sin and death.
  • We believe in the present reality of the Holy Spirit. We believe that He lives within each believer to comfort, strengthen, mark as a child of God, and work with us as we seek to be like Jesus. That through Him each believer is gifted and equipped to minister within the church. He is co-equal with God and serves to empower each believer to live a victorious life in Jesus.
  • We believe that salvation is offered fully and freely through Jesus to all who will believe and obey. This salvation is offered because of God"s love for us, and that all humanity stands in need of this great gift.
  • We believe the Bible teaches the essential nature of baptism for those who would be followers of Jesus. That baptism is by immersing the believer in water to join them with Jesus in a death to their old life and usher them into a new life completely clothed with Him.
  • We believe in the importance of the "Lord's Supper" and encourage anyone who loves Jesus to participate as He invites them to come. We believe that it is a spiritual feast that reminds us both of what Jesus' did and will do for those who love Him.

What are worship services like?

Our worship is informal to better connect all of us with a God who inhabits each part of everyday, our music is a blend of ancient expressions of truth played in modern styles, our teaching relevant and transparent, and an offering is collected which allows us to demonstrate our gratitude for all we’ve been given, and show our continued trust in God’s great provision. In addition every week we are given a chance to remember Jesus' sacrifice and love for us through participation in "The Lord's Supper". While we hope this worship will be appealing to you and others the truth is that our audience is Jesus, so we invite you to come express your gratitude, seek answers to life's important questions, and discover how amazing God’s love for each of us is as we worship Him together.

What is the dress code?

RLCC does not enforce any dress code however it is requested that no one wears anything that may offend others.

How do you do communion?

We encourage anyone who loves Jesus to participate as He invites them to come. We believe that it is a spiritual feast that reminds us both of what Jesus' did and will do for those who love Him.

Can I meet the pastor?

Pastor Dale Phipps, while kept a very busy man, he seems to always have time for meeting our guests. To contact Pastor Dale please call the church office at (503) 359-4288 or indicate on the attendance card that you would like a visit from him. He will get back to you as quickly as he can.

What happens on other days?

There are a host of activities taking place both in the building and beyond, so please check out the calendar for all the details. Here are few highlights: We have several "Life Groups" meeting throughout the week to help you connect with God and others, we have both middle and high school groups that meet helping to prepare our young people for what they'll face as they prepare for life away from the loving care of their families, we have AA groups that meet throughout the week. And there is a group of Spanish speaking believers (The Church of Jesus, House of God, Door to Heaven) that meet Sunday afternoons. If you have any additional questions about these or other activities please e-mail or call the office Monday thru Thursday 10:00 – 2:00.

How can I become a member?

Membership or as we like to think of it "Partnership" at Real Life isn't a privilege it’s a responsibility. If you desire to become a part of the family that is Real Life there are a few things you’ll need to consider. First, am I really willing to be a partner with Jesus? Have I trusted Him with my present life and the one to come, have I been obedient in the things He’s asked of me, and am I doing all I can through the power of His Spirit to become more like Him. Second, do I want to partner with Real Life as my spiritual family? A family where we all do our part, contribute as God has equipped us to, serve our community, and are diligent in promoting unity within God's Family.

If you’re interested in being a part of this family every month we have a membership class called "Introduction to Real Life". It's usually held the first Sunday of each month from 4:00 till 8:00pm (check the calendar for more details), and is taught by our pastor Dale Phipps. During this class you’ll be given a chance to see both where we’ve been and where we are heading, learn some of the basics of what we believe, and what it means to be a Member of the Real Life Family. There will be a meal provided and child care is available with advance notification of your intent to attend the class.
